Properties of PEEK Rod:
Probably the most popular reason for people choosing PEEK would be its high temperature performance, because it can operate at around 250°C and retain its excellent mechanical properties and only begins to heat distort at around 315°C before finally melting at an amazing 350°C. PEEK has excellent high mechanical strength and stiffness along with very good toughness and impact resistance which is a huge advantage over other plastics such as PTFE. Other advantages are its tensile strength which seems to exceed most other plastics. PEEK Rod has a fire rating of V-0 which is the highest possible and also has minimal smoke and toxic gas levels which means that it is one of the safest plastics in production. PEEK is also highly resistant to microwave, gamma and x-ray make it suitable for the medical, pharmaceutical and food processing industries.
Size availability:
PEEK Rod is commonly available in a range of diameters from 5mm diameter up to a usual maximum size of 180mm diameter. It is grey/beige in colour and manufacturers produce PEEK in 3000mm lengths although we do sell lengths ranging from 125mm up to 3000mm.
How it is made:
PEEK 450g rod is a high purity, semicrystaline thermoplastic which is made up of two repeating monomers of ether and a Ketone Monomer.
